St Giles
There have been a few changes in staff at our San Francisco school lately. The lovely Natasha Joyner left St Giles last year which was a sad loss for us. However, as we said goodbye to Natasha, we said hello to Laurel Druke, the new Senior Registrar. We asked Laurel a couple of questions to get to know her better.
1) What were you doing before you joined St Giles?
I used to work for ELS Language Centers as the International Student Advisor and DSO in San Rafael, CA. I have two Bachelor degrees in Business Administration and Political Science from Dominican University of CA and have been active within international education since 2013.
I am is currently serving on the National team for NAFSA’s Knowledge Community for International Student & Scholar Services as their Regional Liaison Coordinator. This is my 3rd year. I will be graduating with my Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of San Francisco in May 2017.
2) What do you enjoy most about working at St Giles?
I thoroughly enjoy working for St Giles as it’s a family-owned company with a high philanthropic and student-centred mission. This aligns very well with my own mission. I also enjoy working with the ADOS Lauren Gerken to cultivate new opportunities and ideas for improving operational efficiency, increasing retention, and advancing each student’s experience at our centre.
3) Please tell us something interesting or unique about yourself!
I am very passionate and active in my local community. I am a part of a political organization that amplifies young voices, mobilizes awareness through sustainable action, and builds a leadership pipeline that engages young people in the political process. Oh and I LOVE dogs!
Laurel is looking forward to meeting you at St Giles San Francisco soon!
