Yesterday was ‘Pink Shirt Day,’ a national day in Canada that is designed to bring awareness to, and focus on, anti-bullying behavior in schools.
Pink Shirt Day began in 2007 in Nova Scotia, a province in eastern Canada. A grade 9 student wore a pink shirt to the first day of school and was bullied by a few other students. The following day, as a way of protest, half of the school came dressed in pink shirts as a sign of support for the student. This has become an annual event all across Canada.
